Portfolios & Watchlists
Gilito AI provides two ways to organize and track assets: watchlists for assets you want to monitor, and portfolios for assets you actually hold. This page explains how each works, their differences, and the limits available on each plan.
Watchlists
A watchlist is a curated list of assets that you want to keep an eye on. Adding an asset to a watchlist does not imply that you own it — it simply means you are interested in tracking its signals, rankings, and performance over time.
Why Use Watchlists?
- Research candidates — Add assets you are considering investing in so you can monitor their signals and strategy rankings before committing capital
- Sector monitoring — Create watchlists organized by industry or sector to track trends across related assets
- Quick access — Your watchlist provides a personalized dashboard view of the assets that matter to you, instead of browsing the full market
- Signal tracking — See at a glance which of your watched assets currently have Buy, Sell, or Hold signals
Managing Your Watchlist
You can add assets to your watchlist from any asset page by clicking the watchlist button, or from the search results. Removing an asset is just as simple — click the watchlist button again to toggle it off. Your watchlist is accessible from the main dashboard navigation.
Portfolios
A portfolio in Gilito represents your actual holdings — the assets you own and the positions you have. Unlike watchlists, portfolios include position details such as the number of shares, entry price, and the date you entered the position.
What You Can Track in a Portfolio
- Positions — Each asset you hold, including the ticker symbol, quantity, and entry price
- Current value — The market value of each position based on the latest closing price
- Profit & loss — How much each position has gained or lost since your entry, both in absolute terms and as a percentage
- Portfolio-level metrics — Total portfolio value, overall gain/loss, and allocation breakdown
- Signals per holding — See the current signal (Buy, Sell, Hold) for each asset in your portfolio at a glance
Creating and Managing Portfolios
You can create multiple portfolios to organize different investment strategies or account types. For example, you might have one portfolio for long-term holdings and another for shorter-term trades. To add a position, select the asset, enter the quantity and entry price, and save. You can update or remove positions at any time.
Watchlists vs. Portfolios: Key Differences
While both features help you organize assets, they serve fundamentally different purposes:
Portfolio Performance Tracking
Gilito automatically tracks the performance of your portfolios based on daily closing prices. Here is what you can see:
- Individual position P&L — Gain or loss on each holding, updated daily
- Total portfolio value — The sum of all your positions at current market prices
- Overall portfolio return — Your total gain or loss across all positions, both in currency and percentage
- Allocation view — See how your capital is distributed across different assets, sectors, or industries
- Signal overlay — Each position shows its current signal, making it easy to spot assets where Gilito's top strategies suggest action
Limits by Plan Tier
The number of watchlist items and portfolios you can create depends on your subscription plan. Here are the current limits:
