Building Portfolios

Portfolios in Gilito AI let you track your actual holdings and see how Gilito's quantitative analysis applies to the positions you own. You can monitor performance, view signals for each position, and get portfolio-level insights all in one place.

Portfolios are for tracking and research purposes. Gilito AI does not execute trades or connect to brokerages. You manually enter your positions and Gilito provides signals and analysis on top of them.

Creating a New Portfolio

Step 1: Navigate to Portfolios

Click on Portfolios in the left sidebar of your dashboard.

Step 2: Create Portfolio

Click the Create Portfolio button. Enter a name for your portfolio (e.g., "Long-Term Holdings" or "Growth Picks"). Choose a descriptive name that helps you differentiate between multiple portfolios.

Step 3: Save

Click Save to create the portfolio. It will appear empty, ready for you to add positions.

Adding Positions

A position represents a holding in your portfolio — the asset, how much you bought, at what price, and when.

Step 1: Open Your Portfolio

Click on the portfolio you want to add a position to.

Step 2: Click "Add Position"

Click the Add Position button inside the portfolio view.

Step 3: Fill In Position Details

Complete the following fields:

  • Asset — search by name or ticker symbol to find the asset
  • Entry price — the price per share/unit at which you bought
  • Quantity — how many shares/units you hold
  • Entry date — when you opened the position

Step 4: Save the Position

Click Save. The position will appear in your portfolio with real-time performance tracking based on current market prices.

Editing and Closing Positions

Editing a Position

To edit a position, click the three-dot menu on the position row and select Edit. You can update the entry price, quantity, or date if you made an error when entering the position.

Closing a Position

When you sell a holding, click the three-dot menu and select Close Position. Enter the exit price and date. Closed positions remain visible in your portfolio history so you can review past performance, but they no longer count toward your active holdings.

Viewing Portfolio Performance

Your portfolio overview shows key performance metrics at a glance:

  • Total value — the current market value of all open positions
  • Total return — your overall profit/loss in both absolute and percentage terms
  • Per-position returns — individual gain/loss for each holding
  • Allocation breakdown — how your capital is distributed across positions
Tip: Use multiple portfolios to separate different investment strategies. For example, create one for long-term holds and another for shorter-term tactical positions.

Portfolio-Level Signals and Recommendations

Gilito AI provides signals not just for individual assets, but also aggregated at the portfolio level:

  • Each position displays its current signal (Buy, Sell, or Hold)
  • A portfolio summary highlights positions where the signal has recently changed
  • You can quickly identify which positions Gilito's top strategies currently favor and which may warrant review

For more details on how signals work, see the Understanding Signals guide.

Portfolio Limits by Plan

The number of portfolios you can create depends on your subscription plan:

  • Free — up to 2 portfolios
  • Pro (€50/mo) — up to 10 portfolios
  • Advanced (€500/mo) — up to 50 portfolios
  • Enterprise (€5,000/mo) — unlimited portfolios
Need more portfolios? If you've reached your plan limit, you can either consolidate positions into fewer portfolios or upgrade your plan for a higher limit.
